Google AI Mode’s “See More” Button Could Reshape Visibility in Search Results

What Google Is Testing in AI Mode

Google has been testing a “See more” button within AI Mode results, appearing consistently over the past month on desktop and mobile. The button mostly shows up on shopping-related searches in a spot that truncates organic results until the button is clicked. Screenshots shared by Brodie Clark and later by Sachin Patel highlight how initial AI-generated results display a limited set of listings, followed by the See More button. In typical Google fashion, sponsored placements remain clearly visible right below the new button.

Why Placement Order Matters for Exposure

When it comes to AI chats, people want to click less and will more likely click on what is generated first. Even a small interface adjustment like a button can affect click patterns, engagement rates, and downstream conversions. While this button isn’t appearing on law firm related chats yet, this could potentially be the reason that some law firms don’t appear in the immediate results inside of AI search. This update also aligns with Google’s previously announced visual refresh to AI Mode, which emphasized more product-heavy displays and interactive links. If retail queries are serving as the testing ground, other industries like legal may follow.

When Organic Visibility Depends on a Click

For law firms, screen space inside AI-driven results is becoming tighter. Organic placement may no longer guarantee immediate visibility if content is partially tucked behind interface elements. Firms cannot assume yesterday’s ranking positions will function the same way inside AI summaries tomorrow.
