The global hair dye industry continues to grow, especially in today’s complex economic market. Raking in billions in profits, the industry continues to push aggressive marketing campaigns, particularly targeting women. These campaigns focus on idealized beauty standards and prey on stereotypes and insecurities. Glossy magazine ads fail to advertise the adverse health effects of hair dyes and chemical processing products. Permanent hair dyes, especially darker formulations, are widely used in hair coloring and are associated with serious health risks.
At TSEG, we help law firms connect with potential hair dye claimants, particularly salon professionals and long-term users of chemical hair dye products. Scientific studies have found evidence linking aromatic amines and coal tar derivatives in these products to an increased risk of developing cancer, including breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Prolonged exposure and long-term use of harmful chemicals and endocrine-disrupting chemicals in hair dye products put salon professionals and consumers at higher risk, especially black women and African-American women who are disproportionately targeted by marketing. Companies failed to warn consumers about these dangers, and many lawsuits allege that companies neglected to disclose the potential for serious health risks.
